Unfortunately, I work also and have been too busy to write.  But the floor in the mud room is pretty much done.  The Self-Leveling Compound (SLC)  was not as easy as expected.  It did not seek its own level enough to really level the floor and in the end I figure out how to use it.

A.  Measure the high and low points with a flat edge (or level) and mark the topography on the floor.  Then selectively fill in the low areas.  after that sets and you want it more level use the slc on the whole floor.  Otherwise the gaims are to small because the fast set and significant viscosity ad hieht to the high ponts as well as the low.  Granted not equally but notadequately to flatten.

B feather the edges. because of the viscoxity, i had 1/8th inch at the end of the fill in slc and using a putty knife to feather the edge makes a better transition.

The floor was put in by a carpenter, I just need to do the molding.
Today I did cleaning and looked at BR 2.  I now have a plan for BR2. I have cleaned out the mold.  The residual black is some ancient water proofing of this exterior wall with asphalt like material In aany case my plan is to place cement board or hardie backboard to patch the previous cement  and reinstall if possible.  If I need to use ononmatching I will just pain the surround like in BR 1
After cleaning the mess in the garage I fixed a switch and light  fixture in BR1.  Next will be soaking the previous tiled.

I also started scraping the garage door with the wagner painteater.  I great tool.  The weather is pretty cold ( less than 50 F)  CSo i will use oil based paint.  More prep here.'

Till next time.  I am hoping to continue to do more fussy stuff

Today was busy....
Tried t.o smooth the floor of the mudroom with self-levelig again. I used three bags,  I was super fast but not as good as two people.  I set up the water and the bags and zoomed the mixing drill. Last night I ground down some previous high points.  Today I made a spreader with a half inch clearance and wore plastic bags over my shoes so I could get into the mess and also spread gently with some pvc pipe.

It looks better but

I feel that the stuff does not self level very well and is like a thick coat everywhere.  I am not sure if I made any progress.  I will check with my long straight edge.  I have pretty much given up for now and hope it will be OK for the floating laminate floor. I have a contractor I can discuss this with coming on Wednesday

My big move today was picking up a big barrel sized garbage can, It helped me clean up the mess around the house.  I also cleaned up painting, drywall and general tools.

I also did more sanding of my drywall patch... I am ready to prime and paint.  I need to review my paint status it has been months and the paint may be ruined...perhaps I can strain out the skim if I find it.  I also plan to clean up the door and scrape the garage door.

I cleaned out the molded wall board in the second bathroom.  I will need to get off some more tile that has no backing now and is held by mortar.  I have wanted to maintain the tile.  But if not I will paint the surround with epoxy paint transformation stuff, like the pink bathroom #1.  The problem area is very dry. since I shut off the toilet (I will really need to inspect that later) I got the ugly condensed black insulation and am down to the studs and rock lath of the old house and the framing in the addition part.  I sprayed it down nicely and I am thinking about sanding the studs with black and grinding the concrete. The margins look good.  The sources of moisture are either the old roof leak or the toilet.  The roof is fixed and I am not sure about the toilet I will need to study the internet to figure it out.  it is wall mounted 1950s american standard.

Need to get the old fridge from the kitchen into the garage.

Meanwhile at home I fixed a simple light fixture

Then I did overdue dictations at the hospital

Finally, we saw the captain..Hanks and the weirdo pirates were great but the movie so-so.  Too long

I will try to add pictures.

Crying

At lunch time i sneaked to Lowes and bought self leveler underlayment... a different brand.  Also some chalk at staples in the same mall.

After work at 9pm i went to the haunted house and studied the floor with my level and marked the depressions with chalk.  I swept the floor and
Then, i mixed this stuff in the dark and it needed less water and the bucket was a bit dirty.
I filled in the depressions but the material was grainy ?? Perhaps I did mix long enough.

I tried to feather the edges a bit to avoid ridges.

I was not that happy---crying actually--- will see in the day light the damage.  Uhg

I watched the youtube on leveling and it made me worry about not using primer.  Nothing to do but wait......

Wish me luck.
This is the roller coaster story of fixing up a Great house.  As expected I am already in the middle of the process.

Today's goal.  Level the mud room for the 3rd time hoping to get it flat enough to place laminate floor.

Chalk the areas of depressions and put down areas of leveling concrete and feather the edges.

Next Goal:  Get out the mold from BR 2

Next Goal: Liquid Glass in BR 1

Next: Clean up mess
